They didn't throw out swag at our assemblies

JP and I went and watched Whitney preform in the welcome back to school assembly today. She did very good! She preformed in about the middle of the assembly so we got to watch the beginning. After they introduced the SBO's they threw swag into the stands. JP turned to me and said "They didn't throw swag at our assemblies." I then asked him what swag was. He told me it is stuff with your logo on it. So for the school it was the mascot. It is to advertise. It is true we never got swag at our assemblies.
Watching the assembly, for about a split second I wanted to be back in high school. Then I snapped out of it and realized although that was a very fun time in my life I did not want to go back. I am very happy and content with my life now. I have a wonderful husband, two crazy dogs, a house, a career I LOVE, and many other things. I would love to be that care free again and not have so many responsibilities! Not to mention be able to thrive on little to no sleep. But I can honestly say that I love where I am right now. Life is about change and growing and learning and I accept that and want that growth. Besides high school was only so fun because of the friends I had and the adventures I went on. Both of which I still have!

IKEA- The Black Hole

I have been wanting some type of linen closet for awhile. As most of you know my house does not have a linen closet and so the towels get stored on shelves my closet next to my shoes and the sheets get stored in a tupperware under the bed. (Under the bed storage is actually very convenient because otherwise it is kind of wasted space and it allows more room other places.) I have looked many places and found one thing I liked but it was too small. So today JP and I went to IKEA. I had found something I liked in their book that came out earlier this year and wanted to see what it looked like in real life. I have been out to IKEA twice before and both times I was there longer then I wanted to be. I also got really lost but luckily there are arrows on the floor showing how to get out. The place it really busy, as in a lot of stuff everywhere. I refer to it as the black hole because you get sucked in and three hours later you emerge with lots of stuff you had no intention of buying. I was actually dreading going today but JP said he would have us out in less then an hour. (which surprisingly we were in and out in 45 minutes!) We went in and started walking around. I found a very nice laundry basket and JP very politely hinted that it would be nice if I purchased it because then my dirty clothes would not be strewn all over the floor. I just ignored him but still got the basket. Then we went looking for a linen closet storage thing. We ended up purchasing a chester drawer. I thought it was actually a smart thing because when we move it could be used as drawers for clothes and not towels as there WILL be a linen closet in our next house. JP and I assembled the set and put it up. It actually looks really nice. So I may call IKEA a black hole but it did help me fix my storage issue!

Lunch with the Grandparents

I LOVE my Grandparents. I am a very lucky person because my mom's and dad's parents are still alive. Not many other people can say that. I have learned so much from my Grandparents. My dad's parents go out to lunch with him once a week. When I started working they would go out on Tuesdays, that was the day Joseph could go. I would go too sometimes. Now that Joseph does not have school on Mondays we go then. We ALWAYS go to Apollo Burger. My Grandpa says he is yet to find a better place then Apollo. I have no idea how Pop eats Apollo once a week. I can barely do it myself. It is kind of funny because all the people who work there know my Grandparents and the order does not change very often. Pop gets a Apollo burger, Dad gets a cheeseburger, I get a junior cheeseburger and Joseph will get the chicken slovaki dinner, or another sandwich. Gram will eat fries and sometimes she gets a corn dog or grilled cheese. It is really cute to watch my Grandparents. Pop will keep giving fries to Gram and she will get mad because she does not want anymore. He just wants to make sure she gets enough to eat. They are so cute together! If eating Apollo means I get to hang out with my Grandparents once a week then I will do it! (A couple hours later I may not be too excited but it is worth it!)

All bark and no bite

That is what the boy said as Molly was chasing after him this morning at 4:40. But let me back up and explain. JP went to Wyoming today for a job. His plane was leaving at 6 in the morning so he needed to be to the airport by 5 no later. (If it were me I would have been to the airport by 4 but I am also my fathers daughter in that respect!!) I decided to take the dogs with us. Why put Molly in the kennel when she could go. So I let the dogs out the front door and of course there is a boy walking down the street. (Oh course because that is when I go walking too!?) Molly takes off after him and starts barking like crazy. Remember that it is 4:40 in the morning, sorry neighbors!! JP and I are both yelling at her to stop barking (sorry again neighbors!). She would kind of charge the boy then back up and start barking and then do it again. I call this a case of the thinking you are a big dog when in fact you are not so ferocious! The boy tells JP that she is all bark and no bite. JP tells him to not be deceived, you never know. Then I started thinking about that. I know Bailey would not let anything happen to JP or I. Even though he is so cute and cuddly and just wants you to notice him, he can change. Ask my sister-in-law Jennifer. Now Molly, on the other hand, just thinks everyone is a threat. Unless I let them in the house, then they are here to play with her and notice her and watch her prance around the house with her toy. She is still very puppy but I believe if anything were to happen she would take care of me or JP. Even though she can be crazy!, I still love her and secretly I am glad we decided to let her join our family :) Although at times I think Bailey is not so happy she is here!?

Return of the Cool kids club, minus some :( but plus others :)

JP and I went to dinner with some of my cousins tonight. We met at Thanksgiving Point and got sandwiches. The food was good but the company was great! It was so much fun to just sit and talk and get updated. Those of you who do not understand the post heading maybe one day I will explain but until then just think cousins together at Lake Powell and lots of free time. It was the best and our shows were some of the best I think ever seen! I know, stop with the stuff most of you don't understand but I tell you what my cousins are the best! And if any of you were wondering, be careful when visiting Wendy's at midnight- o-one because you never know when a shoe may come flying and come very close to hitting you, or was that Taco Bell. Oh well no ones knows what I am writing about now so I will stop.

Temping

I signed up to temp and got called today. They called at nine and I had to be to work by ten. Not bad! It was weird though because I had those first day jitters in the morning but by the afternoon I was fine. I actually enjoyed it. Maybe this temping thing will work out. If not I could actually try to look for another job as I have decided I have too much time on my hands, dunah, dunah too much time on my hands. (get? it the song, if only I could sing this blog for you or record it then things would make more sense....... sometimes)

Olympic fever

I don't know about the rest of you but JP and I have Olympic fever. We have stayed up late, very late!, almost every night and watched the Olympics. Why did the Olympics have to be half way around the world? JP already ran on little sleep but I, on the other hand, cannot run on little sleep. (unfortunately for some of you, you have found this out first hand, and this is usually not a pretty sight!?!) I am glad the gymnastics are over because JP would get so mad about the scores. Then he really couldn't fall asleep because he would be stewing about it. Now I don't understand the scoring but I do know that if one person wobbles and the other doesn't shouldn't the person who did not wobble get a better score? And another thing, why can't two gold medals be given out in gymnastics? Two gold medals would be given out in another sport. Now that I have vented I feel better. Thanks for reading!

Grocery Shopping

So I have not been grocery shopping in a couple of weeks (I know how lazy can I be!?) I went through the add and made my list and off I went. I was in and out in less then 30 minutes. I think this is a record for me! I also stuck to my list, what a shopping trip. The only bad thing was I was almost killed by another shopper. I know some people are in a hurry but come on. I was walking down an isle and a person was coming towards me. I moved over so she could get by. Well another shopper turns down the isle and is in a hurry and what does she do but tries to pass on the other side of the person I was passing. In case you were wondering three shopping carts CANNOT fit down the isle together. Did the other lady not see that there was no room for her to pass? Could she not wait for uh like 10 second? Apparently not, don't worry I did back up so she could go by. I know I should have made her move but she was NOT budging! Anyways I find everything I need and head to check out. Yes, I am one of those people who brings the cloth bags to put their groceries in. I did not want to wait in line because every line was too long. So I head to self check out. What a pain in the butt!! If you bring your own bag you can tell the computer but it is only a computer and sometimes it does not understand what button you are pushing. So it finally registers I have my own bags and I start checking out. Everything was going well until I ring up the Propel and they fall over in the bag. So I straighten them and they fall over again. So I say forget it and just put things on top. All the while people are looking at me and giving me bad looks. If I want to use the self check out then I am going too, go ahead and give me those bad looks because you have to wait two more minutes! So long story short JP and I now have food to eat and I survived my grocery shopping, but just barely!

Too bad kids don't do this!

So the following is a gross story but I had to share it. This morning as I was in the shower Molly was curled up on the bath mat. This is very normal for her, she licks the water that falls out of the shower and even tries to get in the shower herself. She LOVES to get in the shower! Anyways, I had just put conditioner on my hair and was washing my face when I hear this sound. I look over and Molly is doing the I am going to throw up thing. I of course am in the shower with soap on my face and so I think should I jump out and run to the back door, hoping I don't fall, or do I just let her throw up because after all at least it is on the tile floor. So I let her throw up, gross I know but I wanted to save myself from possibly getting hurt not to mention the show the neighbors may have seen threw the window. Well I finish showering and get out. I look for the throw up and it is no where to be found. Did I imagine that Molly threw up, no it was real. You see Molly had taken it upon herself to clean up after herself. I will spare you the details but those with dogs know how they "clean" up after themselves. I though what a good puppy to clean up after herself. Then I thought too bad kids don't do this!

Want some ABC gum?

I really like to chew gum but I always make sure I keep the wrapper so when I am done chewing the gum I can spit it out. Well apparently others do not do this. They just spit it out where ever that may be. In this case that where ever just so happened to be my car! Yes, I said my car. The other day I came out of work and what do I see not one but two, yes TWO pieces of chewing gum stuck to my car. Seriously!?! I was so mad but what really makes me mad is I will never know who the little &$*#*@ was who put their gum there. The better for them because who knows what I would do to them. (OK so I am just all talk but I would still be mad and give them the worst look I possibly could!!) All I ask is next time you are chewing gum, be kind and DO NOT spit it out onto someones car! Really is it that hard to a find a gardage can perhaps?!

My dad goes digital

My dad has changed his office over to digital radiographs. So far things are going well, as long as someone is right there to ask questions too. We had a three hour training last week but it was a little more in depth then I would have liked. I know that digital can do lots of cool things but what is wrong with just wanting to take x-rays? The digital radiographs are also helping me find out lots about the computer, something I am not very good at!

Hello

So not much has happened here lately. Jess and Shauntel left to go back to North Carolina yesterday and that was a very sad day for everyone, especially Tanner!

I finally finished Kite Runner and I tell you what it is an intense book. I could only read about two chapters at once and sometimes never finished a chapter. It is a good book though and makes me VERY grateful that I live in the USA and have the freedoms I do. The book is fiction but sometimes it is so well written with detail that it makes me wonder if some of it is true.

JP enjoyed guys night at Johns and got home around three in the morning. He had to teach today so there was not the usual argument about going to church.

Yesterday morning JP participated in a golf tournament with the elders and had a lot of fun. His team won the tournament and he was excited about that. I, on the other hand, had the opportunity to help clean the church. I got to vacuum for a whole hour! It was crazy and the church was so hot it did not make things easier. By the way nerds do not vacuum up very well!

Also, I have posted whether it sinks or floats on my previous post. Those who did it did well. The only thing that got people was the ski gloves which in fact do not float, they sink!

Picture Day

Today was family picture day. My mom was pretty stressed but things went really well. We wore white shirts and blue jeans. I am going to try to put together a movie of the pictures so stay tuned for that. My husband looked really hot too! He got his hair trimmed yesterday and he looks really good! I looked good too if I can toot my own horn!

Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants

Just got back from seeing the movie and really enjoyed it. I have not read the books so some things were confusing but I still really enjoyed the movie. I would highly suggests that all you girls go with your sisters and mom, make a girls date night out of it.

Does it sink or float

In my many years of visiting lakes I have learned some important information. I thought I would share this information with you. (this info also applies to any body of water) It is called Does it Sink or Float. I will name an object and you tell me (in my comments) if you think it sinks or floats. I will let you know if it sinks or floats later. Here we go, I will start with an easy one....

Life jacket floats

YEAH for the Olympics

I don't know if you have all been enjoying the Olympics like me but I have been loving watching them. The last thing I needed though was an excuse to watch more tv. The opening ceremony was incredible! Lazy hammock nights

When my brother Joseph was in Bolivia he sent me home a hammock. I have loved that hammock ever since! Once it is warm enough outside I put up the hammock stand. If JP comes home and can't find me I am in the hammock. When I was in school I would sit in the hammock and study.
Tonight JP and I took a break from watching the Olympics and went and cuddled in the hammock. While out there the sprinklers came on in the front yard. JP said we had about 40 minutes before the sprinklers came on in the back. So after awhile we moved the hammock. After moving the hammock JP sat down and was swinging his legs around and the hammock tipped over. It was one of those moments where you laugh but are also worried about the person. I was laughing so hard, JP was laughing too. So he got out and we tipped the hammock back up. The next time he went to sit down he farted. That really makes me want to cuddle!? JP is OK don't worry. When he sat down the first time he was not in the middle of the hammock, he was more to one side which caused it too tip. So next time you climb into a hammock make sure you are in the middle before you swing your legs around!

Lake Powell, It's beautiful country!

My family just got back from Lake Powell yesterday. That place really is heaven on earth! It is so beautiful. The bulk of the family left on Sunday and then JP, me, my dad, and Jamie left on Tuesday. (Jeremy was not able to make it unfortunately) We brought the rain with us. It was raining when we got there and rained for the next two days. Luckily it was not all day it was just in the afternoon. Thanks to all the snow we got this year the lake has gone up and the cut through is open again. This opened a whole part of the lake we have not seen in years. Here are the highlights..
*We visited Rainbow Bridge and Dangling Rope. My dad rented a boat that fit all of us and we packed the cooler with food. We went up a lot of canyons on our way back and Jess got lots of neat pictures.
*A bat wanted to sleep with my mom one night and this caused a lot of commotion. I slept right through it but others were woken up.
*JP and Tanner would go frog hunting every night. They took empty gallon bottles and cut the top off to put the frogs in.
*The Olympics started while we were there so we watched the opening ceremonies.
*Walmart. Lake Powell trips are not complete without a visit to the local Walmart. (Although again I missed this because we came down later.)
*Water skiing and wake boarding. Kim, Jess and I went skiing and Whitney, and Kim went wake boarding. Whitney provided lots of entertainment while she was wake boarding!
*Tubing. Whitney has figured out the best way to be on the tube, sit with your bum in the middle. It is harder for you to fall off. This also provides lots of entertainment for those in the boat.
*Ice cream. We got some ice cream at Dangling Rope and when ever we went into the dock, which was about everyday. Coming back from Dangling Rope Tanner was sitting in the front of the boat. He got a root beer float. We went over a bump and some of his beverage flew out and hit people in the back of the boat. My dad told him to dump the rest of his drink and that is exactly what he did. Luckily my dad ducked and did not get hit.
*Food. I don't know what it is but when we are at Lake Powell we eat and eat.
*Strombollis. This is a restaurant in Page and it is good. My dad does wonder if it is really that good or if it is that we are just that hungry. They have a special at lunch and you can get pizza or pasta, and a bottomless salad. The salad is really good! They put cheese, tomatoes, olives, green peppers, and onions on it.
*Glen Canyon Dam. We visited the visitors center and walked across the bridge. When a semi came across the bridge the whole thing would shake. It was scary!

I really do LOVE Lake Powell!!!!!

Monday Night Outing

I would have called this family home evening, but JP and I don't really have family home evening, we have family outings that happen any day of the week and spontaneously. So tonight JP and I were out to buy more dog food as we were almost out. The only pet store that had our brand of dog food in stock was the Pet Smart on 33rd South and like 31 East. So we were on our way with JP driving. All of a sudden JP asks me if I have B.O. and this is how the rest of the conversation plays out (Don't you love when I type out the whole conversation for you. You see it is more enjoyable to read this way, at least I think so.)

Me: "Did you just ask me if I have B.O.?
JP: "Yes, it smells weird and I was wondering if it was you.?"
Me: "You are seriously asking me, you aren't joking?"
JP: "Yes, it smells like onions or something and it is bugging me."
I was chewing gum and blew a bubble and it popped and then JP said this
JP: "It's your gum. Is your gum old? How long have you been chewing that gum?"
Me: "I have been chewing it since we left home less then 10 minutes ago and no it is not old."
JP: "Then it is your breath."
Me: "WHAT?! First it was MY BO and now it is MY breath. Are you sure it is not YOUR B.O. or YOUR breath?"
JP: "No, it is not me. What did you have for lunch?"
Me: "I had a calzone with marinara sauce, artichoke hearts, green peppers, and zucchini...."
JP: "That sound good!"
Me: "Yes it was. I even brushed my teeth after lunch, so it is not my breath. Thanks for asking though. It is your car. It smells funny."
JP: "No it is not the car. I could smell this at home and now I can smell it in the car. I think it is you."
Me: "It could be my feet (I hold up my foot for him to smell), or maybe my bum."
JP: "Maybe it is your feet."
Me: "I was joking! I shower, use deodorant, and brush my teeth. Not to mention when I shower I make sure I soap my body off, which includes my feet, arm pits and bum. Now you have told me I stink and I think it is you who stinks!"
JP laughs and tells me I am being weird. Um, how would you feel if you were accused of stinking?
So we get to the pet store in the nick of time, right before I am about to get really mad. While there I found out that you too can buy TY toys for your dogs. They look just like the beanie babies. (I asked JP if we could buy one for Molly. He just laughed and said NO because Molly does not need anymore toys. Then I ask if we can get her a shirt, again no.) These beanie babies will make sure your dog doesn't chew up your real stuffed animals?!?! Whatever!

The best part of summer is the patio parties my family has at my grandparents. My dads parents, Gram and Pop, invite us over and we eat and talk and hang out on the patio, or lawn. My Aunt and Uncle and cousins also come. Then when it is time to leave my grandpa loads up take out containers for us. (He went to Costco one time and found those take out containers. It works very well for them because it cuts down on the amount of tupperware they loose!)
When I am a grandma I want a house with a patio so I too can have patio parties in the summer. I also want the big backyard my grandparents have!
