7 months old

Crazy how fast these little kids change in just one month. My little baby girl is no longer baby, she looks like a toddler! Here is what Abilynn did this month.

*She does head stands. She will put her hands on the floor and sticks her little bum in the air.
*She now has 3 teeth, with one on the way. Her third tooth was on the bottom.
*Abilynn LOVES to pull her socks off and eat them. They taste really good!! She has done this for quite awhile.
*She crawls everywhere. She likes that she can get whatever she wants, whenever she wants it. She has already explored the garbage in the bathroom, the dogs bed, the dogs water dish, the Christmas tree, the dogs food dish while Bailey was eating his food (which by the way Bailey is the PREFECT dog, he didn't even growl at Abi when she was taking his food dish away. Instead he ate even faster!).
*Abi loves to crawl over to her toy boxes and dump the toys everywhere. She will then try to crawl into the toy box.
*She eats vege's. She shuddered when we gave her green beans for the first time and then gagged on them. She tolerates green beans now but prefers carrots, sweet potato's, and squash. Peas are liked but not loved like sweet potato's!
*She still LOVES her oatmeal and rice cereal. I tried some rice cereal the other day and gagged! NASTY!! Green beans taste way better then rice cereal.
*She has discovered stairs. Abi even made it up one of them. Thankfully I was right there watching and she didn't fall off.
*She can pull herself up to stand. When I go get her out of her crib in the morning and after naps, she is standing there to greet me. How I learned she could do this is I heard the mobile chiming on the monitor. I was confused because baby girl was suppose to be asleep and you had to turn the mobile to make it chime. I went into the nursery to investigate, and there Abi was standing up, swinging the mobile around, smiling as big as she could!
*Abilynn claps her hands. She likes to play pat-a-cake.
*She scrunches her nose to make a silly face. I have it on video.
*She likes to put things in her mouth and crawl around. She is pretending to be a puppy!
*Abilynn is learning to cry to get her way. It is a VERY dramatic cry too! JP plays right into it. We are in BIG trouble!!!

6 months old

Baby Girl you are growing WAY too fast. Make time slow down. Everyday I hang out with Abilynn I love her more and more. The days I work, I can't wait to pick her up and just cuddle. Here is what she has been up too...

*She can crawl. She has scooted around, and done head stands for awhile. One day she decided she wanted the dogs toy and off she went!
*She has two teeth but more are on the way and soon because she is chewing on EVERYTHING and slobbering A LOT!
*She played in the snow for the first time.
*She can start out on her back on the floor and end up sitting on her bum.
*She can sit up by herself without wobbling.
*She can hold onto the side of the pack and play and stand for quite awhile. Aunt Whitney helped her learn this. Now when I try to get her to sit down she will straighten her legs to stand. Little stinker!
*She is now wearing size three diapers. After so many blow-outs in size two, we said good bye and moved up.
*She sleeps for 7 hours straight at night. Wakes up to eat, and then goes back to bed for another 2-3 hours.
*She takes two naps a day, anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours.
*She eats rice cereal and will take the spoon from you if you don't feed her fast enough. We are starting vege's this week!
*She talks and talks and talks. It is more like screaming, but with a smile.
*She is into EVERYTHING. Now that she can crawl the whole house needs to be discovered, every nook and cranny!
*She sat in the front of the shopping cart. I would always leave her in her car seat but decided that she was old enough to sit in the front. She promptly tried to eat the shopping cart handle and got upset when I stopped her.

Rice Cereal

Baby Girl had been showing interest in food for awhile, so Daddy decided to try some. Why not? We were up at my parents house so they had rice cereal, spoons and a high chair. Abilynn really liked the cereal. I am not sure why because the stuff smells funny! She ate a bowl and was content. It also happened to be on her 5 month birthday.

When I feed her now she will try to grab the spoon, as if to tell me 'Mom you are not feeding me fast enough!' She will also lean into the spoon. She loves her food, and always has, so why would it be any different with cereal?!

Faster dad, faster!

Not really sure about it yet.

Lots of posts

I have finally updated my blog with lots of things I have been meaning to post so sorry about the post overload!!

First snow

Hand full of snow.

Eating hand full of snow. Not sure what to think!

Technically it is Abilynn's second snow. It snowed when she was only eight days old. This was the first snow she could play in. Being the responsible mom I am, I packed her up in her snowsuit and took her outside. I then plopped her down in the snow. What did she do? She grabbed two hands full of snow and started eating it. She didn't care that it was cold. If fact the only time she got upset was when she fell over and the sun was in her eyes. I was telling JP the other day that I was not ready for snow because that means Baby Girl and I will be stuck inside. He told me that I should just pack her up in her snowsuit and take her outside to play in the snow. Maybe I will, if she keeps tolerating the snow well!

The ZOO

Abilynn and I went to the ZOO about a month ago. We went with Aunt Jamie and Cousin Tymon. We met up with Aunt Shauntel and Cousin Annabelle while there. Abi had a lot of fun. We watched the elephant show. While watching the elephant show some man pushed his way in front of the stroller and was practically sitting on top of Abilynn. He also had his kid on his shoulders. I am too chicken to say something but really should have! He didn't stay for too long otherwise I probably would have said something. We walked around the rest of the ZOO and then rode the merry-go-round. Abilynn LOVED the merry-go-round. She would have gone on it twice, but was asleep. I am excited to go next year!

Abilynn and her tiger.
Riding the merry-go-round and holding on real tight! This is one of my favorite pictures of Baby Girl.
Me and Abi.

Own room

Abilynn has been sleeping in her own room for over a month now!!! It was difficult for me. I didn't realized how scared I was for her not to be near me all night. Of course it didn't faze her at all. In fact she sleeps better in her own room!. Now she can roll and roll and not hit her head on the side of the bed. We still have to figure out the tempeture. Basements are hard to regulate the tempeture. Her room is not completely decorated yet, but is very close! I will post pictures when it is finished.

She now sleeps from 10pm- 5am, without waking up. YEAH!!! A couple of nights she has woken up at three and I let her cry for awhile. JP thinks this is mean but I know Abi can sleep through the night and one night of crying equals the next night sleeping through the night again. One night I was letting Abilynn cry and I hear JP on the monitor say "Can you teach Abi a lesson another night?" I turned off the monitor and problem solved. (The monitor we got works like walkie talkies.) After I feed her at five, Abilynn falls back alseep until around nine. Slowly I am getting my sleep back and I'LL TAKE IT!!!

NERF Wars

Kimmie figured out a way to carry extra bullets!!
Kim and Whit

Please don't shoot the picture taker!

Look like you are ready for battle!?

My brothers and JP are on this NERF gun craze! I am not sure how it all started. One day Smith's marketplace had their NERF stuff buy one get one half off. Next thing I know each of them has not one but two guns each. Then my brother Jess is searching on line how to make bullets, so they don't have to buy them. Now they are always looking for recruits to play NERF wars with them. They will play in my parents basement. My dad even played one game with them. He was a little upset when he was shot and out of the game, so instead of going upstairs he kept shooting people. The rules are pretty simple, you get shot once and you are out. Unless you are shot in the eye or hand. First team to die, looses. SO if you are in the neighborhood and bored, stop by my parents house and play NERF wars.

Gummer no more

Shortly after Abilyn turned 4 months she was chewing on my finger and bit down on my thumb and it hurt! Abi had gotten her first tooth. She wasn't really fussy or acting out of sorts so I had no idea and the tooth popped through the gums without me noticing. Two days later she was again chewing on my finger and I felt something else sharp. Yup, Abi had not one but two teeth. If she is this way with all her teeth, then bring it on! I now call her my "two teefer little girl".

Here's Abi showing off her 2 teefer's!

5 months old

Baby Abilynn is now 5 months old. Time goes way too fast. She has been a busy girl this month. I love that as she gets older she is more active. That is also not a good thing, because she gets into more things. Here is what she as been doing this month...

*She has been able to push herself up when on her belly for awhile. Now she is starting to pull her knees under her. She is going to be crawling in no time, something I am not really excited about. JP has been teaching her how to do this and I get mad at him every time.
*She can say mom. Well, she has no idea what she is saying, but she will say mmmaammaammaa. She also looks at me while saying it, mostly because she wants me to hold her or get her another toy.
* She can almost sit up by herself.
* She will ignore people. You can be looking right at her, in her face and she will look the other way. What a stinker!
* She has enough hair and it is long enough to sport pit tails. She looks really cute in them!
* Abi can pass an object from one hand to the other, without dropping it.
* She focuses really well on things.
* She smiles all the time now. She smiles when JP comes home from work, smiles at the puppies, and she has the cutest smile.
* Abi is ticklish. If you eat her belly, she wil laugh and laugh.
* She loves the stroller and going on walks. She will put her feet up on the tray and lounge.
* She loves merry-go-rounds. We rode the one at the zoo and she had a huge smile on her face.
* She loves bouncing in the excersaucer. She goes crazy in that thing.
* Abi sleeps in her own room now.
* She slept through the night and then teethed. We are now teaching her she can sleep through the night again.
* She has two teeth. She has only bit me once and hopefully that is all!!

That is what Abilynn has been doing lately!

Abilynn's Blessing Day

Baby Abilynn was blessed today by her father. It was a great day! My heart was so full of appreciation and love for my husband and our little miracle! I am so in love with both of them and my life is full of blessings becasue of them. We had lots of family and friends come to support Abi. It was amazing to see all the faithfull priesthood holders stand in the circle! The circle was not small. I know that you should not invite lots of men to stand in the circle but JP wanted family and some close friends and by the time he went through who he wanted, it turned out to be quite a few. I am also lucky to have in-laws who may believe differently then I do but they still came to church to support Abi! Abilynn is a very lucky girl to have so many people who care about her!
The day went pretty smooth. I woke up and got ready. Abi decided to sleep in a little. Once she woke up I bathed her and put her dress on. Her looked so pretty in her frilly white dress. Off to the church we went. The three back rows were full of people we had invited to come. When the Bishop announced that we had a baby blessing my heart started pounding so hard. This was my baby who was being blessed. I had waited so long for this and now it was here! JP gave a beautiful blessing. Abi talked a little at the beggining but then she quieted down. The spirit was SO strong!
After sacrament meeting everyone came back to our house. We had soup, salads, crackers and artichoke dip, a cheese ball, rolls, cupcakes and homemade rootbeer. It turned out to be a pretty warm day and five crock pots can really heat your house up! Lots of pictures were taken but my camera kept getting put down and not picked back up so I am going to have to get copies from people.
I am so blessed to have married a man who was worthy to take me to the temple so we could be sealed for all time and eternity! Beause of that choice, our family is forever. I am glad that JP is a worthy preisthood holder and he could bless Abilynn. I am SO thankful for my little Abilynn and that she came to our family. I am excited for our new adventures and to watch our little girl grow and learn.

4 month doctor visit

Abilynn had her 4 month doctor visit yesterday. As the doctor was listening to her heart, Abi kicked him in the face. She also liked the paper on the table. The visit went really well until the nurse came in with the immunizations, and Abi started crying. She really cried when she got the shots but as soon as we left the room she stopped crying. Mom and Dad also got shots. Our pediatrician offers flu shots to parents with babies. I was thankful for this because it will save me from having to call and make an appointment somewhere else. Here are Baby Girls stats..

Weight: 15 pounds 3 ounces (82%)
Length: 27 inches (100%, in fact off the charts)
Head circumference: 16.5 inches (77%)

4 months old

Happy 4 month old birthday Abilynn!!! I cannot believe how fast you have grown. Time has gone too quickly. I think about you all day when I am working. I look at your picture and smile and think about what you are doing now. Here is what you have done this month...

*You blow spit bubbles. It is cute unless we are at your Aunt Kimmies ward to here her speak and you start blowing spit bubbles when it is silent. It doesn't help that your Aunt's Courtney and Shauntel were laughing at you blowing bubbles!
*You fit into your exersaucer and you really like it. When we are at Grandpa and Grandma Cheney's, your cousin Tymon helps show you what all the toys do.
*You really enjoy rolling over unless you are tired, in which case you roll to your belly and then complain until someone rolls you to your back.
*You are starting to sleep through the night. YEAH!!!!!!
*If you are in a good mood you move all over the place.
*You still like your binky a lot! Tymon likes your binkys too. He will crawl over to you, take it out and chew on it. He even puts it back in sometimes.
*You talk and talk and talk. People will stop and talk to you when we are shopping.
*You can push yourself up on with your arms when you are on your belly. You even try to pull your legs up like you are going to crawl.
*You can focus on an object close to you and reach out and grab it. It is kind of in slow motion but you get better and better every day!
*You can take your binky out and 6 times out of 10 put it back in correctly. The other 4 times you either drop it or chew on it incorrectly.
*Your hair is most likely going to be blond but everyday it seems to change.
*You love to watch the doggies play.
*Your favorite toys are ones that crinkle. You have a book and a flower that you like.
*You try to eat every book I read to you. This is kind of mommy's fault because you have some books you can eat and I will let you play and eat them after we read them.
*You still love the baby backpack.
*You laugh a lot. Grandma Cheney is really good at getting you to laugh.
*You like to stand up.
*You love to watch people and if someone close to you is talking you will look around for them.
*You are wearing 6-12 month bottoms, 3-6 month tops, size 2 shoe (very soon size 3). Your 3-6 month dresses are mostly mini dresses due to how long you are, thank goodness for leggings!

3 months old

Baby Girl Abilynn is 3 months old! Well, 3 months and a couple of weeks, but who's counting! She has changed a lot! She has out grown almost all of her 0-3 months clothes. Because she is so long, stretching the onsies doesn't work very well. I have packed up most of the 0-3 months clothes and I was really sad when I did it. Unlike when I pack up my clothes, she won't fit into her's every again. I may not fit into some of mine ever again either but that is another post! Her is what she has done in the last month....

*She rolled over from her back to her stomach. She has been doing this now for sometime. I am yet to get video of it because the little stinker doesn't roll over when I have the camera on! Lots of people have witnessed her rolling over though, so that will have to due for now.
*She has found her feet. She will chew on her feet all the time. If she has shoes on, she chews and slobbers on them.
*She talks all the time now. The other night she talked for almost an hour non-stop. Very cute but when it is ten o-clock at night and you have work the next day, not so cute!
*She smiles at you when you smile or talk to her. She has a very cute smile, with dimples!
*She LOVES to go on walks in the stroller or baby backpack.
*She played in the grass the other day and actually liked it. Unfortunately she is just like daddy though and is allergic to the grass. She had little bumps on her legs for a couple of days after. She didn't complain about them though.
*She LOVES to play with the puppies. Molly likes to play with her too until Abi pulls her ear and then playtime is over.
*She has a VERY strong grip and loves to pull mommies hair.
*She is getting more cuddly.
*She will play shy and hide her face when people talk to her.
*She can hold on to her toys and will fling them all around.
*She has gotten very good at taking her binky out but has not figured out how to put it back in. She will start to fuss and you will investigate to see what is going on and she will be holding on to the binky and flinging her hand around.

Here are some pictures..

Doesn't she look so cute in her hat!?!

Baby Abilynn and her daddy. Abi has blue eyes just like daddy!

Abilynn and mommy. Wonder what Abi is thinking!

The Great Debate

Forget what you learned in school, you have no idea what the great debate is until you are a mother! See the real great debate is baby is asleep or just ate, do I have time to shower before she freaks out. And if I have time to shower do I have time to wash my hair, and if I wash my hair do I have time to actually do it or will I have to pull it back in a pony tail or just let it air dry and go frizzy. If I don't wash my hair do I have time to shave my legs, because I am not sure the last time I shaved them! And after all that debate, if I shower do I have any clothes that fit and do not have spit up on them or should I just put my pajamas back on!
Or there is baby just ate, how long will it take me to get ready and get out the door to run errands. Should I wait until she has taken her nap and then leave. Or should I pack her up now, knowing she will spit up a little but she has a clean diaper, full belly and the fridge is empty! If I do leave, how long do I have until she gets hungry again. Or will I get lucky and she falls asleep. If she gets hungry is there some place to feed her where I am going. Can I make it to two different places or should I even try.
Or there is baby is crying. Is she crying because a)she is hungry, b) she needs a diaper change, c)her binky fell out, d)her stomach hurts, e) she is bored with her play mat, f) she just wants you to hold her, g) she is hot or cold, or h) she knows mom will frantically try to figure out why she is crying so baby is going to cry just to cry to see mommy go crazy!
And the great debates do not end there, no they get better when kids learn to talk. Then you get the why you should eat your veggies debate. The why they can't have the toy they really really want debate. The you have to go to bed now debate and so on and so on!!

Back to Work

I have been back to work now for almost two months. I am working 2 days, which is perfect! I thought that it wood be tough, with little sleep at night and all, but for the most part it isn't. In fact, I like that I know two days of the week I will get up, shower, do my hair, and get ready for the day. The other 5 days, well that depends on the day! JP gets Abilynn up and takes her to the sitter. This is really nice because he now knows what I go through every time I want to go somewhere!
I debated on going back to work or not. I talked to a lot of people and got a lot of advice and then decided I have to find out for myself. For right now I like it! I am really lucky though because I have a lot of family who is willing to help watch Abilynn. All though my brother Tanner has told me "I love Abilynn and she is really cute but I am NEVER watching her again!" He only watched her for two hours and apparently she cried most of the time. Sorry Tanner!!

I just wanted to go to the book store

The other day I was running errands. I was going to stop at Target and the bookstore. I was in and out of Target in a half hour. That has to be some kind of record for me! I only needed a humidifier, diapers, and baby Tylenol, most of which was in the pharmacy area. As I was checking out Abi pooped. I was going to just put her in the car and go home to change her but the bookstore was right there and I really wanted to go. So instead of going home, I went to the bookstore. This was a new mom mistake!
I took Abi out of her car seat and carried her in (mistake #1). I went straight to the bathroom to change her and she had blown out everywhere! For the next 15 minutes I am literally bathing my child in baby wipes. I was lucky and had an extra outfit in the diaper bag. So I get Abilynn put back together and we head off to look at books (mistake #2).
Abi starts fussing a little. I get her calmed down and realize she is tired and doesn't want to fall asleep. See, if I had left her in her car seat she could have just fallen asleep but since I was holding her she didn't want too. I find some books and head to checkout. As I am walking to the checkout Abi is crying. I am trying to calm her. She finally takes her binky. I get in line to check out and Abilynn starts screaming. There were two other people in front of me, so instead of waiting I put my books down and left. I get to the car and put Abilynn back in her car seat and immediately she falls asleep! Little booger! Yes, I was tempted to go back in to the bookstore but instead I headed home. Next time I want to go to the bookstore, I will wait until JP can watch Abi!!

Happy Birthday UTAH

I hope everyone had a wonderful 24th of July! I enjoyed being a single mom all day as JP was working from 9 am to 10 pm. Don't bring it up to him as he was not very happy about it! We usually go to the parade but because of JP having to work I didn't go. Instead I went to breakfast with my sisters. After breakfast we just hung out at my parent's house. At four there was a parade at Cottonwood Heights for Buttlerville Days. Whitney, Courtney, Abilynn and I decided to check it out. It was a pretty good parade. They threw out a lot of candy! Courtney headed over to the park after the parade and Whitney, baby girl and I went back to my parents. Later that night we went back to the park to watch the fireworks. Abilynn was awake for the fireworks show and seemed to enjoy them. I love watching the fireworks at the park because you are so close to where they light them off. You can watch them light the fireworks and you can see the fire that appears as they shoot. Next year I will go over earlier to check out the festivities that go on before! Unfortunately, I forgot my camera in all the running around so I don't have any pictures.

2 month visit

Abilynn had her two month visit today. As most of you know, that is the appointment they get immunizations. JP made it to the appointment just in time for the immunizations. Abilynn did very well, besides the initial red face and screaming. She stopped crying when we walked out of the exam room and then she fell asleep in the car on the ride home. Here are her stats...
Weight: 12 pounds 4 ounces
Length: 24.25 inches
Head Circumference: 15.6 inches (why do they measure head circumference anyway?)

AM or PM

My sisters and I saw Twilight and New Moon at the midnight showings. SO when Eclipse came out it was a no brainer that we were going to do the midnight or close to showing on opening day. Even with a new baby I was going! JP was nice enough to let me go and was willing to wake up to feed Abilynn while I was gone. My sister Whitney bought the tickets online and we decided on a theater that had assigned seats, to save us from having to get to the theater way early. I was meeting my sisters at the theater. I get there and they were right behind me. We walk in and print our tickets. Whitney decides she is going to go to the bathroom and the rest of us are going to sit down. I hand the kid my ticket and he looks at it and looks at me. "Um, these tickets are for 12:30 pm not 12:30 am." What!? Cute Whitney was confused and bought tickets for the afternoon showing. The ticket guy told us we were not the only ones to make this mistake though. We all headed home to sleep and headed back to the theater twelve hours later!

I wonder...

I wonder when belching and farting goes from "good job" to "that's disgusting"?

I wonder when people stop getting excited that you pooped?

I wonder when you stop fighting sleep and long for it? What I would give for someone to tell me to go to sleep and wake up to the house being clean!!

I wonder if my milk is really as good as Abilynn makes it sound?

I wonder when babies figure out that night time is sleep time and morning does not start until eight or later? (OK, so this is more of a hope then a wonder!!)

I wonder if I will ever get a full nights sleep again?

I wondered if I would be a good mother, more like I worried!

I wondered if JP would do OK with sleepless nights and having to work all day. Well, didn't have to worry about this one because he has NO idea when Abi wakes up! No, Abi did not sleep from one until seven, she woke up at four.

I wondered if I would be OK leaving my child to go back to work?

I wonder when we stop taking everything in and start running faster then we can go?

I wonder what my little girl thinks when she stares off into space?

I wonder if my hips will go back to "normal"?

I wonder why birds suddenly appear every time you are near!!!

2 months old

Baby Girl Abilynn is 2 months old. I cannot believe how fast those two months have gone, or how fast she has changed in those two months! This is what she has done in the last couple of months..

*She has found her fingers and LOVES to chew on them. She also likes to chew on moms and dads fingers too! Her hands are always cold from chewing on them.
*She rolled over. She has done it a couple of times.
*She loves her activity center. She will kick her legs and swing her arms for a long time. Mommy loves that she likes it too!
*She follows your voice.
*She talks a lot!
*She smiles a lot! If you smile at her she smiles right back, and she has dimples.
*She can focus on things further away. She loves to watch things and will crank her neck to see you.
*She likes to be outside. Her head and eyes go crazy looking at everything.
*She does not like to face you when riding in the baby pack. In fact she will throw a fit until you turn her around. She likes to see where she is going and look at things, not just mom or dad!
*She likes to read books. I put her on my stomach and put a blanket over us and she will let me read two sometimes three books. She will kick her feet the whole time.
*She cannot sit still. She loves to kick her feet and move her arms.
*She has been swimming, a couple of times actually, and she loves it.
*She likes the bath tub and will splash and splash, until she gets hungry and then she will get upset.
*She likes her car seat and going on drives.
Here are some cute pictures.

Like the headband? It reminds me of the work out headbands from the 80's!
Sleeping in the car seat.

Happy Fourth of July!!!!

Our celebration began yesterday by going to the Murray parade. JP, Jamie and Joseph all ran the 5K before the parade. JP and Joseph were competing to see who could do better. Joseph won by a minute and a half. Highlights of the parade include:
*Joseph picking up the number 2 that had fallen off a poster and giving it to JP. "Here is your number 2 JP." Joseph said as he put it on JPs shirt.
*We sit by the post office and so through out the parade trucks would be leaving to deliver the mail. One guy had his door open so you could see his leg and Jess took the opportunity to let him know he had a "Sexy Leg."
*JP telling kids with squirt guns to shoot Whitney, and they soaked her.
Here are a bunch of pictures to enjoy!
The grandkids first parade. Don't they look happy!?
Tymon asking Abi why we have to take so many pictures!! Or he wants her flag.
Abilynn enjoying the parade. She fell asleep shortly after it began and woke up at the end.

The three runners. JP with his number two.

Honey, the basement flooded......again

Saturdays are suppose to be relaxing days. You sleep in, take your time getting out of bed, wander in your pjs for awhile and then you get to doing the chores that need to be done. Unfortunately for JP last Saturday was not that!
I woke up around 6:30 to feed Abilynn. Molly was acting like she had to go potty. Sometimes I tell her to go back to bed but this morning I decided to let her out. I get to the back door and let her out and see water streaming out of a hole in the ground along with lots of water on the cement. I immediately run into the bedroom and tell JP. He bolts out of bed and asks if the basement flooded. I look back outside and the window well to the bathroom window is full of water. Yes, the basement flooded, again!
It flooded about 11 months ago. Right after I had the good ultrasound and was put on strict precautions. My brother Joseph was phoned then and came to our rescue. It was also found at about 7 at night. Since I was not pregnant this time, no one had to be phoned. The basement really never recovered from the first flood and then this one happened.
The flood was a lot worse this time! We will not be able to save the carpet pad but even worse JP is not sure the carpet itself will survive. Just what I wanted, a basement makeover when we have no money to do it!
The culprit... sprinkler pipes. I HATE sprinklers!!!!!!! I told JP if this is his way to get me motivated to look at other houses and move, it is a TERRIBLE way of doing it! This is what my basement looks like now...
The family room
The bedroom.. that window is where the water came in last flood

The bathroom, the window where the water came in this time

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to all you dads out there. This is a special father's day as it is JP's very first! JP is a fantastic father. He is more the worrier than me! He loves to spend time with Abilynn. He takes the late shift, so I feed Abi and hand her off. Abi and daddy watch tv, work on strengthening tummy muscles and play together. Abi can't do much of playing right now but she tries! JP loves to hold Abi and talk to her. He also reads her books and insists that she look at the pictures, which is not an easy task! I love JP so much and it has been really fun to see him fall into the father role. He wants to take her everywhere. He is a little overprotective sometimes but he has mellowed some. I am scared for the guys who try to date Abi in the future though because daddy will be watching!! Abi has her fathers blue eyes and they are very alert. Watching JP with Abilynn makes my love for him grow stonger. He is a wonderful father!
I also need to say Happy Father's Day to my dad. I love working with him and going to lunch with him. Even though I have been married for 6 years he still tries to help me make decisions and gives me advice on things. He was so patient with me when I was little and he still is patient with me. He is also a WONDERFUL grandfather to little Abilynn. He loves his grandchildren so much and it is really fun to watch him with them!
I also need to say Happy Father's Day to my father-in-law. He is also good at giving advice and then letting you live your own life. JP is pretty much a carbon copy of his father! It is really fun to watch them together. Joe has had many talks with me about how lucky JP and I are for finding each other and I agree. JP and I have been to St George and Fish Lake many times with Joe and Jen and had lots of fun hanging out with them.
Happy Father's Day to my brother's Joseph and Jess also. It is technically their second but the first they were expectant fathers! And to my brothers-in-law John and Nathan, Happy Father's Day.
What a privilege and blessing it is to be a parent!

And the award goes to....

Abilynn, me and JP
Joseph, Jamie, Tymon, Abi, me and JP

Abi in her swimsuit Aunt Jamie C gave her.
Abilynn in her own queen sized bed!
I am not sure if I should call this a good award or bad. It could be called the stupidest award, the craziest award, or the were you thinking with your brain award. Either way, I am the recipient of such award. What did I do to receive such a wonderful award, you ask. Simple, I took my 3 week old baby to Lake Powell. Here is the story.
My family was going to Lake Powell, and even though I LOVE the place I was not going this time. I just had major surgery, not to mention I had a 3 week old baby. I was sad about it but got over it quickly. Well Thursday comes and my family leaves. Friday comes and my husband calls me from work and tell me he wants to go to Lake Powell. I tell him I am not going and he should call a friend. Apparently no friends were able to go on such short notice so JP was going by himself. I did not think him driving 6 hours at night by himself was a good idea. He still wanted to go so I sucked it up and said I would go.
We didn't leave until 7 on Friday night. Abilynn did fantastic! JP made sure to pull over every three hours, regardless if Abi was awake and hungry or not. The problem with stopping was every stop took about 30 minutes. SO our estimated arrival time to Lake Powell was 2:30 am. There was no way I would make my dad drive the ski boat in that late. I decided we should stop in Kanab and get a hotel room, then travel the last hour after some sleep. That is what we did. Abilynn had a queen sized bed all to herself. I slept with her don't worry! Our hotel was infested with ants. It was disgusting!!! I was feeding Abi and an ant was on my arm. We got out of there quickly!
I text my family and said "Guess where I am?" They were excited we decided to come down. My brother Joseph was upset that Tymon was not the youngest grandchild to go to Lake Powell. I think I will hold that record forever! (this was not a record I was planning on holding) Abi and I spent the whole time inside with the air conditioner. My dad ran the generator for 4 straight days so the babies would be comfortable. Thanks Dad!!! I played some Phase 10, and Rummiqu. I also watched tv. The ride home took a little longer but we made it safe! Abi survived her first road trip. More importantly, her mommy survived!!! In fact Abilynn did so well I would do another road trip. (If JP mellowed out a little!)

And they called her..... plus pictures!

Abilynn Louise (JP came up with the first name)
Also we went in for Abilynn's 2 week visit today and she weights 8 pounds 9 ounces. Yes, she does like to eat!

Abilynn and her cousin Tymon.

Molly helping JP put Abi in her car seat. Molly LOVES her new sister, just not when she cries a lot!

This outfit was a dress for a newborn. On Abilynn it is a shirt!
Looks good with leggings though!

Lounging after bath time.

Wednesday Humor

For those of you who need a little laugh keep reading!

Last week was tough for me, just came home with new baby, lack of sleep, pretty much stuck at home. I was, needless to say, going crazy by the end of the week and at random points I felt like I would burst out crying. It got a lot better, don't worry! But I was thinking I should have posted a sign on the door that read...... Enter at your own risk. Unpredictable, caged animal inside!

Another sign would have read....... For your own safety PLEASE DO feed the caged animal!

I was feeding Baby Girl one night and I look over at JP and say I feel like a cow. This is the conversation that followed...
JP: "Yes, and Baby Girl is a piglet."
Me: "She is not a piglet. She is a growing girl. But it is a farm here."
JP looks at me and says " What am I? An a#&?"
Me: " No, you are not a donkey."
JP: " But you sometimes call me that."
Me: "Yes, sometimes I do, but that is only to really get your attention. I think you are the farmer, because you have to clean up and take care of all the animals."
JP doesn't respond, probably because he knew he would say something to upset me.

To the person who came up with those lovely mesh underwear they give you at the hospital, thank you for making such fashionable granny panties. Nothing turns my husband off more then seeing me wear those!

JP grabbed my butt the other day and then proceeded to tell me he no longer liked my butt. He liked my pregnant butt better. I told him to grab my thigh because that is where the pregnant butt fell too!

Last but not least, the first day at the hospital lots of people came to visit and I was totally out of it. Apparently I told my in-laws as they left, "Ok, everyone hope I pass gas." Sadly I do remember saying this and No, I was not embarrassed at the time. Now I am!!!

Baby Girls Story (tried to shorten and condense, sorry so long!)

So as you know from previous post I was over due and baby girl was not dropping and I was not dilating. So I was scheduled to be induced on the 12th of May. Because my cervix was not ripening, as the medical world calls it (I will never think of fruit the same way again!), I could not be induced with pitocan. I was induced with a drug called cytotec instead, and because I have to dilate and efface I was induced at night to allow more time for things to get going. JP and I went to the hospital at 9:15 pm. We checked in and I got hocked up to everything and they gave me the first round of cytotec. It is a pill you take every three hours. First round down. We attempted to watch a movie but I wasn't really paying attention. Not to mention they put me on an IV of fluids and it made me have to pee about every half hour. You try to sleep with that much liquid going through you!

Around midnight JP leaves to check on the dogs and let them out. Shortly after he leaves I have to pee again. I am prepping to go to the bathroom, which was not an easy thing to do because I had to unplug the monitor on baby and the monitor for the contractions, then make sure my IV was not tangled on anything. After all that I had to wheel the IV hanger and waddle to the bathroom. NOT FUN! Anyways all of a sudden there is this big gush of fluid. I think, did I just pee my pants. But wait, I have not had that many fluids have I? How embarrassing if I did pee the bed. So I push the nurse call button and they ask what I needed. "I think my water just broke. Do you need to know that?" Listen people, sometimes I am not that smart OK and this was one of those times! They tell me they will send someone in. In the mean time I text JP and tell him I think my water just broke. "Did you page the nurse?" He asks. See, my own husband knows I sometimes panic and don't think logically! He comes back and yes my water did break.

Now this changes everything. They can no longer give me the cytotec so we wait. I am dilated to a 2 at this point. They keep checking on me and I keep peeing. JP is snoozing away on the nice comfortable bench/bed. Around seven, the nurse comes in and tells me she wants to hook a probe to Baby Girls head and put on in my uterus to measure how strong my contractions are. So the nurse tries putting the probe in my uterus but can't get it past Baby Girl. Apparently her hand is in the way, or at least that is what the nurse thinks it is. So she hooks up the probe to Baby Girl and then goes to get my doctor to have him check things.

My doctor comes in and checks things out. Which by the way IT IS NOT COMFORTABLE TO HAVE SOMEONES HAND UP YOUR YOU KNOW WHERE!!!!!!! What feels like thirty minutes later he is done checking things out. I am dilated to a four and 80% effaced, but Baby Girl is presenting eye and nose first. Baby Girl literally wanted to preview the world before coming into it. The doctor talks with me and JP and ultimately what it comes down too is Baby Girl is pretty much stuck where she is. There is no way to move her or rotate her to another position. Also every time I contract Baby Girl does not like it and her heart rate goes down. We are going to have to do a cesarean. I start crying at this point because I am scared. It didn't help that JP also teared up. Next thing I know people are parading in and out of my room, introducing themselves to me. JP is taken somewhere and prepped for surgery. I was shaved and given a very lovely hair cap to wear on my head. The papers are signed saying this is OK and the anesthesiologist comes in and explains what he will do. I sign and we are rolling down the hallway. I was able to find one minute in all the craziness to call my mom and tell her what was going on. JP was also able to call his dad. So at least family knew what was going on.

I was wheeled into the surgery room, transferred beds, and given the spinal block. The block worked so well my arms were slightly numb. And part of my left thigh is still numb! The anesthesiologist was nice and did not restrain my arms. It is a good thing he didn't because I think that would have caused me to panic even more! Next thing I know JP is telling me she is here and I hear Baby Girl crying. JP went over and was with her while they weighed and measured her. She was 14.5 ounces and the nurse and anesthesiologist had a conversation about rounding up or down. Nurse said down, anesthesiologist said up, round down it was. Baby Girl was born at 8:52 am weighing 7 pounds 14 ounces and was 22 inches long. From the time we decided on cesarean to the time she was born was 52 minutes. I was sewn up and wheeled back to the recovery room. I tell you what, the drugs they give you for and after a cesarean are VERY potent and you are in another world. I think I may have fallen asleep a little during the surgery. And to anyone who came and visited that first day, I apologize because I was so out of it I have no idea what I said to half of you!

We spent the next four and a half days at the hospital and came home on Monday the 17. I came home and slept, as did Baby Girl. While at the hospital people would be coming into my room every four hours or so and starting about six in the morning doctors and students would stop by and check my scare and ask tons of questions. At about eight things would mellow and then the pediatrician would come in. After everyone was done visiting and checking my incision just my nurse would come in after that. One morning a doctor was trying to wake me up and I startled awake and scared them. It was funny because they jumped more then I did!

Our first night home Baby Girl slept fantastic, I on the other hand, was up every three to four hours, not fun. After being woke up for four nights that often my body was use to it and thought that was the schedule. I have now reset my body schedule and now we run on the sleep walking but alert schedule, meaning I have no idea at what time Baby Girl will wake up so get into bed ASAP and sleep some before she wakes up. I also have gotten really good at taking at least one nap a day with her. Other times she naps I shower or am on the computer. (Ok I have to confess, sometimes I take two naps with her! Some nights are better then others!)

Sorry this post is so long but now you know Baby Girl's story. (and yes this is very shortened from the other story I typed up which was four pages long!)

Pictures!!!

My tech savy husband helped me find where my computer puts my pictures so here you go.

In the carseat ready to go home. She was fine when we put her in it but as soon as we left the room she started screaming. She cried the whole wheelchair ride to the car, and she was loud about it. People would just look at me and smile as if to say "Good luck with that!"

She took a chunk of her cheek out with her killer nails, and they are killer!

Just after she was born. See her swollen eye and nose. Poor girl! But the swelling went down quickly.

Proud daddy and his Baby Girl! He kept the outfit on until someone made fun of him. So then he took off the white outfit but left the booties on. In fact my mom now has the white "sterile" outfit for some camp thing she is doing.

Stay tuned for more!

Baby Girls name

I know you are all very curious as to what Baby Girl's name is. Well here is why I have not posted it yet, my cute red headed sister Kimberly decided to go on a study abroad to Thailand. She left on the 2nd of May and comes home on the 26th. My family is on strict orders, from her, not to reveal the name until Kim sees Little Girl. I will post it the very next day for all of you! Please be patient!

SHE'S HERE

Baby Girl has arrived! I know you want pictures but I can't find the cable to download them so stay tuned. Baby Girl arrived on Thursday May 13 at 8:52 in the morning. She was 7 pounds 14.5 ounces and 22 inches long. I will post more about the birth later but she just woke up and is calling my name. Molly is trying to comfort her but it is not working!

Randomness

Baby Girl is costing me lots of money, and no I am talking about the clothes, birth, etc. part. I have wondered the mall (twice), Target, Walmart, the grocery store (twice), Home Depot and other places. When I wonder out I have bags with me, mostly of things that I could use but don't necessarily need. Walking is a good idea, but walking without your wallet is a better idea!

Why is it that the best chocolate shakes are those that are made with Hershey's chocolate? I could just make one at home but driving through is so much more convenient and the only clean up after is throwing the cup away!

To the lady who was behind me in line at Einsteins, when you ask a pregnant women how far along they are and she tells you that her little girl is actually five days overdue, DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE ask if it is twins. And then if she says no it is just one, NO NOT proceed to tell her about your friend who was pregnant with twins but didn't know until she gave birth. Really, really I am five days overdue and the last thing I want is for some random stranger to tell me that I look huge, because I feel huge and I feel like crap but I get out of bed and shower and walk to get Baby Girl out because that is what everyone tells me too do. So please when asking a pregnant person when she is due, just listen to her answer and say congratulation's.

Walking has not convinced Baby Girl to come, so tomorrow I will stay in bed all day, maybe then she will come. The only walking I will do is to the bathroom or kitchen and back to bed.

Staying home the past three weeks with the puppies has made me a little more in-patient with them. All they want to do is help, or are curious as to what I am doing, but what they really do is get in my way. Why do they insist on walking in front of me and then stopping randomly. Do they not understand that I can't see my feet, not to mention my balance is off, so stopping randomly in front of me will cause me to kick them. I really do love you puppies, but I think we have spent too much time together lately!

Watching tv is enjoyable, but not when some stupid random error keeps popping up. Do the people at Dish not know who they are dealing with? And if they do then why do they insist on trying to fix the problem over the phone, when the only thing that will fix the problem is if they send us a new box because the one they sent us broke, and this is not the first one that has broke. In fact this is the third in almost a year. Seriously, just listen to the customer and send us a new box when we tell you ours is defective!

Doctor Update

Off the subject, but did anyone else notice that the baby count down on the side of my blog is now counting up!? I know how many days I am over due thank you!
Here is what the doctor said yesterday- still zero! And still very high. In fact my cervix is still pointed very far back and high that it felt like it was in my throat! He did another ultrasound to make sure she is still head down and she is. Here is what happens now, because I am overdue I get to go in for a non-stress test. They make sure baby girl still has enough amniotic fluid and stuff. I go in for that on Tuesday morning. There is still the possibility I go into labor on my own before or even after that. If I don't then we will induce. My doctor came into the room and made sure I was still ok with being induced, knowing that labor could last 24 hours and I might need a cesarean even after all of that. (By the way doc- that was a HORRIBLE pep talk!) I looked at him and asked "What are my other options? Being pregnant for 42 weeks and then having to be induced?" No thank you!! This is where I put trust in my body and hope it figures out soon what to do. If it doesn't then I put my put my trust in my doctor and modern medicine. Depending on the time of day I am either crying, or ok with what is going on. My brother was over the other day and he said he doesn't understand why women freak out if their baby goes overdue. I told him until he is pregnant and feels the way I do, then he cannot say anything!
At this point it is a mind game and you just tell yourself it is going to happen, this baby will come out and she will be beautiful and a couple of days after she comes you will wish her back inside! That is my pep talk I give myself everyday. I do have good news though, people now tell me I am a cute pregnant person and I have not had anyone tell me I look huge for a long time! (which is probably a good thing because I am pretty sure I would go crazy on them!)

Happy Due Date (or CInco de Mayo)

Hope everyone is having a wonderful Cinco de Mayo! My little girl is having a fiesta in my belly! She has been moving a lot today. I think it is because she knows today is her due date and she wanted to let me know sorry mom but I am not coming yet. That's OK, I guess. Really when it comes down to it I don't have a choice. You enjoy it in my nice warm water bed belly baby girl because a moving date has been set. My nephew Tymon has had numerous conversations with her, and even after those she still wants to stay where she is. We ask him all the time when she is coming and he just smiles. When I hold him, I sit him on top of my belly and sometimes he kicks and kicks. He is excited to see his cousin (even though he will be out numbered 2 girls to one boy).
Baby girl has dropped a little, at least that is what everyone says. The other night JP mentioned that I had ribs again, so she must have moved. Actually I feel she has but I still don't think she has moved enough. My doctor appointment is tomorrow, it will be my last one. It is weird to think it is my last one. What is really weird to think is in one week, give or take a day or two, I will be holding my baby girl in my arms. I have housed this tiny little girl for nine months and she will be here. Everyone tells me to enjoy the last days of her in my belly because I will miss it after. I am sure I will miss feeling her move and her hiccups, which she gets about twice a day but I am very excited to see baby girl. I think JP is more excited, I also think reality is setting in and he is getting a little scared. We will now be in charge of taking care of another human being. She is very different then a turtle or fish! I am ready though, it is actually one of those ready or not here she comes type of deals. All her clothes are washed and put away, the crib is set up and made, the bassinet will move up to our room tonight, blankets are washed, the car seat is installed (this was the easiest thing to do!), I have a pediatrician and my bag is packed for the hospital, I am ready bring on baby girl!!

How to make a 39 1/2 week pregnant woman cry

Actually it is pretty easy to make someone who is pregnant cry, especially if they are 39 1/2 weeks, only get about 5 hours of sleep a night (not consecutive!), and are breathing fire everyday no matter what she eats! Just turn on a baby/birth story and she will be in tears. Mother's day commercials, yup they will do it too!
Today I had my doctors appointment. I was excited, thinking positively, you can only go up from zero you know. My blood pressure was great, my total weight gain has been about 28 pounds, I was in a good mood! My doctor comes in, heart beat good, measurement good, dilation effacement......ZERO. Wait, what!? I am still a zero. I sit up and my doctor starts talking about how nothing has happened, in fact baby is still really high. We at least know she is head down from a previous ultrasound. He talks about how he will only let me go one week over due (asked him that last week) and if nothing has changed next week (my due week) then he will induce the following week. He then asked if I wanted to schedule for the induction and said it would probably be a good idea, a just in case baby girl doesn't decide to grace us with her presents before then. He also told me that she could be high for many reasons, big head (great just what I want to hear), because I have not had lots of contractions she does not feel the need to move down yet (listen baby girl I love you but IT IS MOVING DAY!), my pelvis is not ready (well if she has a big head would you be ready!?).
So long story short, if baby girl does not decide to make her grand entrance into this world before the 12th of May, I will be induced. When I called and told JP this he responded by saying "I thought she would be born on the 12th. I have been telling people that." I love when he shares these insights with me. Needless to say I am less then thrilled but I was awake more then I slept last night, so that could have a lot to do with it! I am not scared about being induced, I have just hit my I AM DONE BEING PREGNANT wall and the possibility of being pregnant for 41 weeks makes me tear up. I know I have tried, and hopefully been, pretty optimistic and happy during this pregnancy but any more nights of having to listen to JP snore are going to make me go crazy. You would think that would make baby girl come, but maybe she already thinks I am crazy! My mother in law pointed out that Dillier's do usually run behind. JP and I, as many of you know, are never on time. If we are on time, people wonder what is wrong. So yes, it would be fitting for baby girl to show up late to the party too. If she came on time, she may expect that all the time and I don't think JP and I could handle that!

No more room in the womb

I am pretty sure my stomach cannot stretch anymore! I think my little girl knows this too. She tries and tries to get it to stretch more. One day she planted her feet on one side and her bum on the other and pushed for about 20 minutes. JP said she was just stretching, but I beg to differ. She is mad that the room is running out for her. She was trying to make more room. I try to explain to her that if she dropped down she would have more room but my efforts have not worked. JP has talked to her too, but with no results. Well I should not say no results because obviously something is stretching because my stretch marks are growing up my stomach. My belly button has not pocked out yet, but it is on its way! And because my little girl is so high I get heart burn from ANYTHING I eat. Yup, ANYTHING I eat. It does not matter what it is, anywhere from 5-20 minutes latter I am chowing down the TUMS (which at this point in my pregnancy ARE THE MOST DISGUSTING THINGS EVER, but they do work so I make a face and chew and swallow.)
At my doctors appointment on Thursday my doctor checked me again. No progress, still nothing. It is ok, I just want her to drop so I can enjoy my food again! If fact baby girl is so high my doctor did an ultrasound to make sure she was head down. She is, and I could have told him that because she loves to kick her feet around under my ribs! I go back on Thursday and hopefully this time something has changed! I am going to do A LOT of walking to help things along. Baby girl seems content where she is. I, on the other hand, am not so content but I want her to come out when she is ready. Sleep has gone by the wayside, so has being comfortable, and well I am down to very few maternity outfits as I have grown sick of them. Welcome to motherhood!

6 Years

JP and I celebrated our 6 year anniversary yesterday. I cannot believe it really has been 6 years since we got married. We were married on a Thursday, only it was raining and overcast the year we got married. Those who got married yesterday enjoyed the sun!
In six years we have lived in four different places. We have bought three houses, sold one house, bought one dog, too many fish to count!, inherited a turtle, bought a tortoise, bought and sold a fishing boat, bought a white van and then sold it (thankfully!!), bought a work truck, graduated from hygiene school, visited many places, bought a 4-wheeler, bought and sold many Nissan Z's, visited the ER, gone through a death of a mother, birth of many nieces and nephews and in a month or so I will give birth to our little girl! We have laughed, cried, fought and through it all we have grown stronger and closer together. We still don't have a perfect relationship and communication may lack sometimes but we are as in love, if not more, than the day we got married!
We celebrated by going to work, yeah :( That's life thought right!? I had a doctors appointment at 4:30. By the way I am dilated to a ZERO. I thought as much. JP got me some really pretty flowers. He told me he made the florist change out some of the flowers that were not so good looking. He also got me a bicycle. He then proceeded to try to convince me to go bike riding this weekend. Um, I am like eight months pregnant, I don't think I should be bike riding right now! He is funny sometimes with what he thinks! JP got a new pair of jeans, Levi's of course. He is also going to get a new pair of shoes but he has to go with me to pick them out to make sure they fit.
JP had made reservation's at La Caille for dinner. On the way to dinner we picked up our crib. JP will put it together tonight. Our nursery will be complete one day?! We had a very nice dinner. We started with the crab cakes. Then we had the spinach salad, which was really good! JP had the steak and I had the beef french I can't pronounce. It was really good. For dessert JP had a crepe with ice cream inside, smothered in chocolate. I really wanted the chocolate cake but knew JP would not and I didn't want to make myself sick. The waitress heard me say something about it and brought out a smaller version of the chocolate cake for me. It was the perfect size and it tasted SO good! We rented Monsters VS Aliens and I fell asleep about 30 minutes into it. JP laughed at me when I woke up at the end of the movie. I really did try to stay awake but it was useless!

Just a side note, if you ever go to La Caille for dinner they will let you in if you are wearing flip flops! They won't even bat an eye, especially if you are pregnant and in flip flops. Being pregnant does have its perks!

WARNING: PARANAS

A couple of months ago JP asked me about buying a new car. I said no I am very happy with my car and don't want to visit a car dealership anytime soon! Then a little bit after that I said "I could look at new cars but I don't know about buying one now." Well to JP that was a green light to start looking. I had no idea he was looking and forgot about the whole car thing. Then almost a month ago he calls me at work. I was with a patient so he left a message. He told me to call him when I got off work. It was a Wednesday so I called him when I got off around two. "Come over to the car dealership. I found the car you should buy." So very naive me drives off to the car dealership. I should mention here that I must have a lot of trust in JP. Over the six years we have been married I have done many things I would not have ordinarily done, decided to buy a new house in one night after seeing the house once (and we were not looking at moving at all!), fixing up a house that we did not technically own yet, etc. You would think I would have been smarter and not driven over to the car dealership, but no. So I show up at the dealership and JP is not there. As you may, or may not know, car dealerships are my favorite place to visit! YEA RIGHT!?
I do not get out of my car, but don't worry only three salesmen came out of the building to investigate why I was there. None of them came over to the car and I pretended I was texting and calling people on my phone. Yes, I was talking to myself but I had to look busy to keep from being bothered. Finally JP shows up. He gets out of his truck and I get out of my car. A salesman walks up to JP and says "This must be your wife?" Yes, I am. He then walks me over to a car and tells me to get in and we can take it for a test drive. This is when I should have seen red flags everywhere telling me NO DON'T DO IT but naive me gets in and off we go. As we are driving the salesman is telling me about all the features on the car. I am half listening. JP is in the back seat all excited. We get done test driving the car and we get escorted inside. "Now, lets talk about price." WHAT, I missed a step. Apparently JP was at the dealership earlier and pretty much told the salesman we are buying the car.
I am now confused and JP starts explaining to me that it is a used car with very low miles, it just came in today and it is the car we should buy. I look at him like a deer in headlights. By this time I should mention it is now almost 3:30 and I ate lunch around noon and have not eaten since, so I am getting hungry. I tell JP this and another salesman happens to hear. He comes over with some crackers. These salesmen are good! JP then starts telling me all the reasons we should buy the car. Then we get sat down in a room and the salesman tells JP a price and then we are off to the biding races. For the next two and a half hours JP and the salesman are trying to find a price. I am about to faint from lack of food! Finally they settle on a price. Then JP tells me he has to go. WHAT, YOU ARE NOT LEAVING ME HERE ALONE!!!! He asks how long it will take until we can sign papers. Not too long they say. "I AM HUNGRY. Can't I just go eat and then come back to sign papers?" The salesman won't let me leave. This is where I should have broke down crying, or done anything to get out, but I didn't.
An hour later we are in our new car off to get something to eat. We decide on Rumbi. On the drive to Rumbi I am pretty quiet. "Don't you like your new car?" JP asks. NO, I respond. JP is all confused because if I don't like it why did I buy it. Easy, I don't like anyone or anything at this point because I am tired, hungry and 7 months pregnant!!! Do you understand? We order and sit down. This is when those tears of exhaustion and frustration decide to come. "Why did you make me buy a new car? I was happy with the car I had." Can you picture a 7 month pregnant lady crying in a restaurant while her husband looks at her like a deer in headlights. That was the scene! After we eat we head home. I get ready for bed and lay down. The next day after some sleep, I like my car. (Women, so confusing sometimes we can't even figure ourselves out!)
After I get done with work JP calls me. "So, we can't return the car and walk away but we can get something else." I am confused. Apparently he went to the dealership and asked them what happens if we decide we don't want the car. I then tell him that I like the car. He is totally confused. I explain the whole being tired, hungry, pregnant and at a car dealership for WAY too long and after I had eaten and slept I was OK. JP was VERY grateful! So I am now a proud owner of a 2009 Nissan Murano. And JP has hopefully learned his lesson about making important decisions in one day! I really think this time cured him because he felt really bad and after explaining it to him he understood my point of view and agreed with me. Although he is still confused as to why I actually signed the paper work instead of walking out. I don't quite understand that either (could I blame that on the pregnancy? maybe it was the lack of food and it was too much energy to get up and leave) but at least I am happy with my purchase!
